Backpack technical tests.

We conduct laboratory tests to validate the components:fabrics, buckles, straps, foam padding, zips...e.g. for a fabric:resistance to abrasion & tearing, colour-fastness in UV light, resistance to washing, waterproofing. A test is conducted on the finished product replicating the accelerated demands on the backpack over a number of years to check the strength of the assemblies:the backpack is weighted, placed on a dummy which reproduces the movement of fast walking over thousands of cycles.

Tests carried out by our Research and Development departments on the efficiency of the EasyFit system

Ease of design: effective adjustment time 2.3 times shorter with the Easyfit backpack; and number of times you have to readjust = 0 for the Easyfit bag Does not affect the quality of adjustment compared to a bag with standard adjustment: EasyFit was rated significantly more comfortable in the Friedmann statistical test, 4%; with 6 times as many backpacks correctly adjusted.

How is backpack volume measured?

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty the balls into a graduated container, which gives us the equivalent volume in litres, with a tolerance of a few %.The empty weight shown is that of our reference sample. There may be slight variations.

How do I adjust my Forclaz EasyFit bag?

FIRST, LOOSEN all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjuster straps). PUT ON THE BAG. PLACE THE BELT ON YOUR HIPS (it must encompass the pelvic bones) AND TIGHTEN IT. Then, pull the EasyFit TOGGLES, the strap block goes around your shoulders. Finally, ADJUST THE LOAD ADJUSTER STRAPS as needed.

Environmental measurements

Oxylane, together with Quechua, has chosen to inform you of the environmental impact of its hiking backpacks over their entire lifespan. This work follows an experiment that began in July 2011 with the French Ministry of Ecology. Scores ranging from A to E were awarded based on comparisons between Quechua's backpacks only. How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Near your back, place heavy equipment (tent, stove, food). Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet can be placed under the flap; the tent under the bag if there’s no space inside. Keep a waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. In the pockets, place small items for the day (sunscreen, map, glasses...). The water bladder can be placed in the compartment generally provided down the back.

10-year technical partnership warranty

The Strenfit component brand, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating backpack ageing. These tests were conducted on the components, the seams and the finished product. The results of these tests are used by Quechua and Strenfit to guarantee the bags for 10 years from the purchase date shown on the receipt.

Ten-year warranty, conditions

The warranty covers any defects to the backpack, excluding those resulting from normal wear and improper use. This special 10-year warranty will only be granted upon presentation of the receipt and the product. If the product is covered by warranty, it will be repaired or exchanged, free of charge. This sales warranty does not affect the statutory rights applicable in your country/State.

Lightweight carried close to the back for hikes lasting several days with medium-weight loads. The EasyFit system allows you adjust the bag on your body so that it fits well.
